Links and Likes
During the past years, the following institutions supported my professional career and those are a few links I would like to share:
- From 2014-2015, I served as president of the SIAM Student Chapter at TU Delft
(see note in SIAG-LA digest and SIAM News). We organized the SIAM Student Krylov Day in 2015.
- Project BaNaNa - Seminar of the PhD students in numerical analysis from TU Delft on practical tools and applications.
- WTOS - Cycling club of TU Delft.
- Pixelbar - Hackerspace Rotterdam.
- FES - The Friedrich-Ebert foundation (FES) mainly supports students from a so-called working class background with a scholarship equivalent to the BAföG. The FES is also very active in peace and development politics in many contries.
- Dies Mathematicus - The Dies Mathematicus is an annual meeting for all students of TU Berlin that graduated in mathematics, technical mathematics or scientific computing in the last year. In 2011, I managed to win the award for the Best Bachelor Degree in pure mathematics. (Pic1, Pic2)
- github - A very useful tool for software developers and under appreciated by numerical analysts.
- homepage - html code of this homepage for further use and distribution.
- Student Project - I recently designed a project tasks for undergraduates that finished the Numerical Analysis 1 course at TU Delft.
Skiing
Besides math, skiing is the best thing on earth! Since I was 3 years old, my parents went skiing with me in a small town called Kastelruth. It must have been around that time, that I discovered my passion for skiing and its relaxing environment.
Over the years, I imroved my skiing skills and it happened by change that I found out about the winter sport courses offered by the Humboldt University of Berlin. After completing some of their courses, I had the opportunity to become a skiing teacher at the DSLV (Deutscher Skilehrerverband) in 2012. Since then, I try to supervise at least one of the skiing courses of the HU Berlin student sports association each winter. Those 1-week skiing trips are designed for students of the three Berlin universities, but also international students are welcome to join. We are usually a group of 40-50 students and 4-6 instructors for all levels from beginners to advanced skiers. Feel welcome to join us in the next winter!
